@forthecause,Here’s an idea. Pay more attention. Or read some news from October 2008 – Present.

It’s my pleasure to tell you that you don’t own a clue as to what you’re talking about and it shows.

@SledgeHammer. Good question. Many people don’t but they fall for the tricks of Debt Terrorist. It’s unfair that Banks get to get bailed-out for excessive consumer debt with a tax write-off, but they recently got paid for their unfair credit practices. Thanks for the great question.

I’ve often wondered something…

So if your original creditor sells your account to a 3rd party collection agency, why should you have to pay the 3rd party anything at all? The original creditor just writes off your debt as a loss, and it’s not like you told the 3rd party to buy the account…so what’s the deal? Why do you owe them a thing?

Why don’t you get a clue? Why did Capital One and other Banks get bailed out?

What about when there is no debt owed? Why is there a “Fair Credit Reporting Act” and “Fair Debt Collections Practices Act”? Any answers?

Fairly good advice, except for one thing: They do have a fourth option: To sue you. If they can’t or won’t bother to validate, chances are they won’t sue, but it IS an option, and a cease and desist letter won’t stop them from being able to. Just throwing that out there.
